We provide the following services: Geophysical survey; Borehole drilling and construction; Borehole forensic assessment; Borehole rehabilitation; Borehole pumping tests; Construction of irrigation systems; Construction of Reticulated water systems;Water needs assessment; and any other water related service.
Sachiko Water Ltd usually uses Electrical Resistivity Survey method, more especially the Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) which involves the rapid measurement of variations of the ground resistance with unit depth. However, other survey methods such as Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) and vertical Seismic Profiling (VSP) are also employed in specific occasions according to the varying conditions of the areas.
We provide borehole drilling services for both handpumps and motorized pumps. We are specialized in air and mud rotary drilling methods. Borehole apron/headworks designs vary with clients’ requirements. When siting the borehole, we pay attention to the geophysical survey results coupled with findings from hydrogeological desk studies, and the proximity to possible groundwater contamination sources.
Borehole forensic assessment is a detailed diagnostic investigation that aims at determining the route cause of borehole non-functionality. In this forensic assessment, we conduct a series of tests including but not limited to down-the whole camera analysis, water quality analysis, pumping tests and materials analysis. At the end of the borehole forensic assessment, we recommend whether the borehole can be restored through rehabilitation or maintenance works, or it has to be decommissioned based on the findings.
As Sachiko Water Ltd, we are experienced in bringing back defunct boreholes to life through rehabilitation works. We conduct full rehabilitation works which include well development, pumping tests, and replacement of old civil works and replacement of old hand pump.
Sachiko Water Ltd designs and constructs full reticulated water supply systems. The reticulated system includes a high yielding borehole installed with a submersible pump powered by electrical or solar power, elevated reservoirs, a network of transmission and distribution pipes, and water supply points. The design of our reticulated systems employs the four basic principles of a water reticulation system which include reliability, redundancy, utility, and economy.
Sachiko Water Ltd is also into the construction of irrigation systems of different types such as Drip irrigation, Sprinkler irrigation, Centre pivot irrigation, Rain horse irrigation, Furrow irrigation and Surface irrigation. These irrigation systems may be driven by either gravity or pumps. The pumps may be powered by hydro-electric power, solar energy, or diesel and petrol engines.
Sachiko Water Ltd carries out consultancy work for water needs assessment in villages across Malawi for interested individuals and organizations. This assessment identifies the community needs with regards to water for human consumption and irrigation farming purposes. We also assess the type of water systems fit for different communities based on geological, environment and demographic setting of the community. The assessment is aligned to national policies, strategies and guidelines for community water supply, sanitation and hygiene.
